ICYS Ipswich Community Youth Service have officially launched our activities for National Youth Week 2015 during the Easter School Holidays.

Are you a young person aged between 15 and 24? Are you looking for some extra spending money for the school holidays? Do you have a hobby you could turn into cash? Then we’re looking for you to be a part of the ICYS National Youth Week Youth Market! This is a Market run BY young people, FOR young people where your only limit is your imagination. We have stallholder positions available for young people to sell anything: Art, Paintings, Sketches, Photography, Craft, Decorated Photo Frames, Knitted Accessories, Homemade Jewellery, Earrings, Bracelets, Necklaces, Friendship Bands, Badges, Homemade Clothing, Tote Bags, Dream Catchers, Candles, Homewares, Pot Plants, Gardenware, Wooden Gifts and Knick Knacks, anything you can dream up!

We’re also offering busking spots for young people to showcase their music and performance skills. You could sing, dance, perform a skit – any way you can think of to entertain people. Or perhaps you’d like to offer an activity stall providing Facepainting, Balloon Tying, Craft Activities or you could sign up to volunteer on the day!

Did you know that on any given night in Australia 1 in 200 people are homeless? Did you know that 42% of all homeless people in Australia are under the age of 25? Join us in our fight to support children and young people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness at the ICYS Youth Homelessness Matters Day Sleepout on Tuesday 14th April from 6pm at the ICYS office: 17 Thorn St, Ipswich. Community members young and old will nominate to sleep rough for an evening to raise funds and awareness for youth homelessness. By nominating to sleep rough you will raise funds by asking your friends, family, coworkers and schoolmates to sponsor you, with all funds raised going towards assisting ICYS to support young homeless people in our community.

The Market will be held on Friday 10th April, from 3 – 6pm in Darcy Doyle Place, Ipswich.
